An Intelligent Response To The Progressives Who Would Change America

What do you say to those who agree we need to “fundamentally transform” America for the betterment of society?

Or to the Occupiers who chant for the allegedly oppressed “99%”? To the lawmaker who’s gotta pass those new bills “for the collective good?” To the neighbor who is ashamed of America’s alleged “failures?” To that family member who soaks up, like a sponge, the mainstream liberal media bias?

Ask them if they really and truly want to make progress for human beings.

After the “yes” answer, then read to them this quote from America’s 30th President, Calvin Coolidge. (Hopefully they already know something about 1776!) Coolidge said this at a 1926 speech in Philadelphia:

“It is often asserted that the world has made a great deal of progress since 1776, that we have had new thoughts and new experiences which have given us a great advance over the people of that day, and that we may therefore very well discard their conclusions for something more modern. But that reasoning may not be applied to the great charter [the Declaration of Independence].

If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, that is final.

No advance, no progress can be made beyond these propositions. If anyone wishes to deny their truth or their soundness, the only direction in which he can move historically is not forward, but backward toward the time when there was no equality, no rights of the individual, no rule of the people. Those who wish to proceed in that direction cannot lay claim to progress. They are reactionary. Their ideas are not more modern, but more ancient, than those of the Revolutionary fathers.”

Can the truth and soundness of our Revolutionary fathers be denied?

Yep. At freedom’s peril.

NR Editor Repeats the Obvious: Romney a Dork

"Yesterday, while discussing the Michigan primary, National Review editor Reihan Salam repeats a meme about Mitt that may just stick; specifically, that the former MA governor is a "dork." Columnist Kathleen Parker said the same thing on last Sunday's "Meet the Press," and while Ann Coulter didn't use that specific word at CPAC, she did say it was time to try "square." Should he just own it at this point?"

Time Marches On

"What they didn't expect was the complete ineptness of this president!" A great many have made something close to this statement over the last three years. Stating that voters did not expect the complete ineptness of Obama is a very dangerous and misguided assertion to make. Conservative pundits almost overwhelmingly make this incorrect assumption in every critique of the administration. These pundits could not possibly be more wrong. I contend that there is absolutely nothing inept about this president. He is quite capable.

Each and every action taken by Obama is but a step in a grand plan that marches towards achieving an ultimate, unstated, goal. Each step taken by this administration is very carefully planned and is executed with breathtaking efficiency. Underestimating Obama by thinking him “inept” is to invite not only disaster but the destruction of the very foundations of this country and western civilization. Read More

Stock Market Like Gridlock in Washington

The article is hoping for a gridlock in Washington, D.C. The Market like to see an Obama presidency and a Republican Congress. As long the GOP can stop Obama's lunacy, the market will slowly improve. From 2006-2010, America has seen the consequence of a Democrat Majority, and that was ugly. There hasn't been a good Democrat president in a long time. We have seen a Democrat president and a Republican Congress in the 1990's, and the market did very well. It would be nice to prove to America that a Republican Tri-Fecta would put the economy back on track and put exceptionalism back in America.

(CNBC) While President Obama may not be Wall Street's ideal candidate, stock prices are rising on growing expectations he will be re-elected this November.

Part of that, market pros say, is simply that investors feel more certain about who will be in the White House for the next four years and which policies they will have to deal with.

Obama's chances of winning in November increased to above 60 percent on Tuesday, up from about 50 percent at the beginning of the year, according to the odds on prediction market Intrade.com.

History shows the market tends to rise during election years. Gains tend to be even greater if the incumbent party wins.

Intrade puts the Republicans’ chances of controlling the Senate and House after the November elections at 72 percent and 64 percent respectively.

That brings up another Wall Street maxim: “Market likes gridlock.” This way, a single party can’t mess it up.

Fully Mental Jack-up

(Click cartoon to see full size!)

After over three years of being the most profligate spender of other people's money since the Earth was a cooling ball of gas, Barack Obama has finally found one place where he's willing to make real budget cuts: healthcare for America's military.

Specifically, the president has offered up a plan to force active duty service members and veterans to sign up for Obamacare and leave Tricare (the current U.S. subsidized health insurance program for the military) by raising the cost of premiums until it's unaffordable.

Obama's plan, which would go into effect immediately after elections, would raise Tricare premiums 30% to 78% in the first year...and then go up 94% to 345% every five years thereafter until every last man and woman who has served in uniform has had to quit the system and settle for whatever crumbs Obamacare will throw them.

Roughly speaking, that means a retired officer would be paying four times more for insurance in five years than he or she is now. And 16 times more in 10 years.

Experts say that the slash-and-burn reduction in military benefits is likely to hurt efforts to recruit or retain soldiers...which is probably exactly what Barack Obama wants.

Of course, none of this would be happening if this president and his party were even the least bit serious about real deficit reduction. But instead we get years without budgets, and gimmicky and pointless cost-cutting committees and supercommittees.

Followed by the Commander-in-Chief's cold and calculated order for members of the military to sacrifice themselves on the deficit grenade...and all to shield the despicable little Chicago politician who is twirling the grenade's pin on his finger.

Agenda 21 – Biodiversity and Sustainability through U.N. Global and Local Environmental Activism Initiatives – Part I

by Mark A. Cohen

* See I’m 41 for more conservative blogs from Conservative Blogs Central *

What if the environmentalists organize and create a world-wide movement through the United Nations (U.N.) and recruit local governments to assist them? In order to construct bio-diverse, machine-hostile, and eco-balanced neighborhoods they deem it necessary to gain global consent of dozens of countries. They wish to pass laws which restrict carbon emissions, urban sprawl, halt the growth of roads, and turn the land back to nature and animals - no matter what. “Impossible,” you say? No, welcome to Agenda 21. When I first heard this, I didn’t believe it, either.

Agenda 21, hiding in plain sight, began at a U.N. conference in Rio de Janiero in 1992, referred to as The Earth Summit. The activists held a follow-up meeting every five years, so, they held one in 1997, 2002, 2007, and one is now planned for June 20-22, 2012, in Rio. It is known as RIO+20. The goal of greening the earth – sustaining the forests by planting trees – sounds wonderful. We all enjoy clean air and fresh water - yes, even conservatives do! Protect the atmosphere, combat poverty, sustain agriculture; all supportable aims. That is, until one performs the requisite research on the Internet (I urge you to Google Agenda 21). The sheer amount of information will astound you, I promise!

The implementation plan for Agenda 21 frightens me. Why? I worry because this doctrine upholds “a wide-ranging blueprint for action to achieve sustainable development worldwide.” It urges governmental and other groups to force social and economic changes required for sustainable development. Agenda 21 depends upon “changing patterns of production and consumption,” and approves of community-based partnerships. Sound familiar? If adopted blindly, without thought or care, this program can lead to restrictive laws which will increase business-killing restrictions, squash progress, and limit freedom for individuals. Activists now petition local governments in the U.S. and fight for the right to turn the prosperity of Western Civilization back into the stone age.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) partner with and donate money to the implementation of Agenda 21 in America! A five-county community near Asheville, North Carolina (NC) recently rejected their local Agenda 21 initiative. Whew, but this might reach your area soon.

I reject conspiracy theories in general, but Agenda 21 strikes me as worthy of much more scrutiny and research. I agree with safeguarding our earth and preserving it for future generations, but resist the method of implementation chosen by the global environmentalists – brute force - with every fiber of my being. How dare they!

My thanks to Amy Mitchell for bringing this to the attention of concerned citizens.

Obama Helps Santorum in Michigan While Bashing Romney

Obama take down Romney in Michigan. I think Obama wants to take on Santorum in November. Obama feels he has a shot to win re-election against Santorum than Romney. Obama is a fool.

(Politico) President Barack Obama has been digging at Mitt Romney's opposition to the auto bailout for months, but as he spoke to auto workers on Tuesday -- and as Michigan votes in its presidential primary -- he attacked the former Massachusetts governors more forcefully on the issue than ever before.

That line, "you can kiss the American automotive industry goodbye"? It comes right from the first paragraph of Romney's oft-cited 2008 New York Times op-ed, in which he urged the federal government not to bail out the struggling automakers.

Santorum Has the Momentum in Michigan GOP Primary

If Romney loses Michigan today, his credibility to represent as the GOP nominee will be difficult. Thus, Romney would have a tough election in November.

(Fox Detroit) LANSING, Mich. - Mitt Romney is neck-and-neck with-Rick Santorum in Michigan but has pulled far ahead in Arizona on the eve of key primary contests in both states, according to new polls.

The Public Policy Polling (PPP) final survey of likely Michigan primary voters, conducted Sunday and Monday, found Santorum edging Romney by a margin of 38 percent to 37 percent -- a difference within the poll's margin of error.

The poll, however, did find momentum swinging toward Santorum in the final hours before the Michigan contest, with the former Pennsylvania senator holding a 39 percent to 34 percent advantage among those polled on Monday, the second day of polling.

News flash: Barack Obama says, ‘American people aren’t stupid’

[link]

Coming from anyone else, the assurance that we, the American people, aren’t stupid would matter little. Coming from Barack Obama—a man so cocksure of his superior intellect that he has never missed an opportunity to belittle the pawns whose fate he controls, thinking they are none the wiser—it is a great burden lifted.
He conferred this status (notice he didn’t say we were smart, just not stupid) during his weekly address...
"Now, some politicians always see this as a political opportunity. And since it’s an election year, they’re already dusting off their same three-point plans for $2 gas. I’ll save you the suspense: Step one, according to them, is drill, step two is drill, and step three is to keep drilling. We hear the same thing every year. We’ve heard the same thing for thirty years. Well, the American people aren’t stupid."

Roe v. Wade and the Loose Interpretation of the Constitution

Last week in my political ideologies class, one of my students decided to enlighten the rest of us by talking about how great the Roe v. Wade decision was. Roe v. Wade was the 1973 landmark Supreme Court decision making abortion legal in all 50 states. In my student's mind, the concept of a women's right to privacy was only secured through the Supreme Court decision to federalize the question of abortion.

After class he wanted to press the matter, perhaps sensing that I wasn't completely sold on the idea that Roe v. Wade was the best thing that ever happened to women. (Another student - a single mom - stayed after class as well. She happens to be a constitutional constructionist.) We talked for an hour or so, while he tried to convince the both of us that the Supreme Court decision of Roe v. Wade was merely a question about privacy, rather than a question about abortion.

He argued that the right to privacy (whatever that means, since the concept is not clearly defined) was guaranteed by the 4th Amendment. I, on the other hand, tried to show him how the court invented a right out of thin air (abortion), then bypassed state laws to make abortion a de facto federal law. Of course he was not to be persuaded that Roe v. Wade was anything other than his narrow view of a woman's right to privacy.

Since I have a broader (and broad-minded) audience here, let me outline what Roe v. Wade did. (Of course I'm arguing this from the conservative perspective.)
  • Roe v. Wade did indeed establish a woman's right to privacy. It did so in the narrowest sense of the word "privacy" by allowing women in the US to be able to abort their children without running into pesky state laws which protected the life of the child.
  • The court ruling created a right to privacy whole cloth by inventing an interpretation of the 4th Amendment that hadn't existed before. (There was no previous "right to abortion" before Roe v. Wade and such a right certainly is not embodied in the 4th Amendment.)
  • It overruled all state laws regarding abortion and assumed federal control without having to run through the process of actually passing a federal law.
  • It assumed court powers above and beyond the mandate of the Constitution, competing with Congressional authority.
  • It did so without voter mandate or congressional approval.
  • It opened the door to the abortion industry.
  • It has helped devalue the concept of life and has helped devalue children.
  • It has flatly justified the idea that a woman's right to abortion trumps a person's right to life.
No, I didn't argue these points with my student. Frankly, it accomplishes nothing to argue with students who have so fully drunk the cup of leftist dogma and can no longer be taught by their teachers.

What we did talk about was the concept of strict versus loose interpretation of the Constitution. My student has only been taught the concepts of a "living" Constitution. From elementary school to college, he has never been introduced to the idea that there may be another way to interpret the Constitution. Oh sure, one of his history books may have paid lip service to the early development of the US where the first political parties to form did so over differences in the interpretation of the Constitution. However, in none of those texts are the ideals of strict interpretation espoused, in none is there a hint that there may be a different way to understand how we conduct politics.

My student has simply been kept from knowledge about how the world really works and about how important a document the Constitution really is. He lacks sufficient knowledge to understand any other interpretation of the past, except his narrow view inculcated through his school curriculum. This is the limited vision leftist dogma presents to modern students.

Without choices, real choices, allowing us to make decisions based on all available sources of information, we can never come to correct conclusions.

Know A Tree By It’s Fruit

Know A Tree By It’s Fruit

A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

I am genuinely surprised when people approach me and ask my thoughts on Mitt Romney.  I invariably ask why they want to know and the reply they offer most often is that they really don’t know the man.

That is when I really want to grab them by both shoulders, shake them, and declare:  “PAY ATTENTION!”

The scriptures tell us:  “You shall know a tree by the fruit it bears.” In Matthew 7:16 it is said:  “You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they?”

In the New Testament book of James, the third chapter and the twelfth verse, we are informed thusly:  “My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.”

In other words a man is what he is – period.  If you want to know WHAT he is, what he believes, then pay attention to what he does. His accomplishments are the “fruits of his labors.”  Those fruits will define him completely.

Remember George W. Bush's “Compassionate Conservatism?”  Well, that was, in fact, code for “moderate.”  G.W. was a moderate AT BEST.

Mitt Romney is a liberal … moderate on some things … but at the core he is a liberal.  It is something the conservative base of the GOP knows instinctually and that is why they are avoiding support of Romney at all costs, even if that cost is the loss of the election to Obama in November.

I am old enough to remember the “Me Too” republicans.  Ever hear of them?  You’d have to harken back to the days of Nelson Rockefeller and the Rockefeller wing of the Republican Party in the 1960’s. (There is an excellent article on this HERE.)

Even then, the liberal wing of the GOP was based in America’s northeastern states.  It still is today.

Mitt Romney was governor of Massachusetts a liberal state if there ever has been one.  There is no way under the sun a conservative can be elected governor of Massachusetts. Yet, Mitt Romney was -- and he would have us believe he is a conservative.  This fact alone should be enough evidence to convinced anyone that Mr. Romney is no conservative. He is a solid member of the Rockefeller wing of the Republican Party.  In 1964 we called them the “Me Too” republicans.  Today we call them RINO’s. (Republican In Name Only)

Ever since conservatives began to grow in power within the Republican Party there has been an internal war raging for control of the party.  In 1960, Richard Nixon managed to merge the two factions of the GOP into one concentrated effort.  But -- just four years afterwards Nelson Rockefeller could not.  And he was furious.  He led an unprecedented attack on the GOP conservatives that failed but left massive scars on the GOP base that are still swollen and sensitive today.

Like Rockefeller, Romney is where he is because he was “next in line.”  It is “his turn” in accordance with the way the northeastern liberals ran the party. (They have yet to learn that they no longer control the Republican Party.)  GOP voters were simple told that Romney is the “frontrunner”  … no matter that Romney did not have the strength that comes from the support of the party faithful – including the conservative base of the party today.

The so-called “republican establishment,” somehow, missed the fact that the power in the GOP switched from the northeastern states to the southern states years ago.  They also seem to have been oblivious of the inherent distrust of northeastern politicians in the south, which is left over from “Reconstruction” of the South immediately following the American Civil War a hundred and fifty years ago.  (Painful memories tend to last much longer than pleasant memories.)

Michael Gerson is an op-ed columnist for The Washington Post, a Policy Fellow with the ONE Campaign, and a former senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations. He served as President George W. Bush’s chief speechwriter from 2001 until June 2006, as a senior policy advisor from 2000 through June 2006.  Mr. Gerson once described Romney this way:  "Romney's main political vulnerability is a serious one. Running for Massachusetts' governor in 2002, he was a pro-choice, economically centrist, and culturally liberal, business oriented Republican."

You DID see “pro-choice,” “centrist,” and “liberal” in Mr. Gerson’s description of Mitt Romney above, didn’t you?

Yes, as a conservative I want to deprive Obama of a second term as President.  But I do not want to swap one liberal for another.  Besides, we have the likelihood of two vacancies on the US Supreme Court coming up in the next four to five years and it is vital that there be a conservative in the White House to appoint two conservative justices.

Romney cannot pull the two factions of the GOP together.  He may win the nomination but he will not win the election against Obama. The GOP’s “Anybody But Obama” strategy will not work. It is doomed to failure. It is as simple – AND -- as sad as that.  And yes, it IS depressing.

The GOP Debates Taking Toll on American Voters

There are far too many GOP debates. And, they have been too much like reality shows, always contentious and sometimes purport to be helpful but offer little substance.

I keep hearing GOP candidates proselytizing these debates are necessary.

Hmmm.

Then there are the other political pundits who continue to beat the drum that the candidates need to continue debating. They say Americans need to hear it all before they can make a thoughtful decision. I suppose to some extent this is true.

When is enough, enough?

I know how to surf the web, pick up the phone and make calls…pretty much all you need to do to truly get to the information you need about any candidate regardless of whether they are running for a national, state, or local office.

The current roster of GOP candidates insist they need to get it all out in the open for Americans before the final nomination decision is made. They argue the derision and fury that will be focused on the GOP candidate by Team Obama starting in June will be the greater messaging battle. I suppose this could be true too, President Obama is the most notorious of all campaigners we have known.

Knowledge is a good thing, the facts even better. I contend in the end that fewer scurrilous debates at this point would offer more GOP public relations value moving forward.

Most know what Obama’s campaign strategy end game will be, and I think weary Americans and GOP nominees will need all the rest they can get.

Study Confirms Milw. School Choice Success

A school voucher program in Milwaukee increased the chances of students graduating from high school and going on to college, according to the School Choice Demonstration Project based at the University of Arkansas.

The longitudinal study, officially sanctioned by the State of Wisconsin in 2005, concluded that, when similar students in the voucher program and in Milwaukee Public Schools were compared, the achievement growth of students in the voucher program was higher in reading but similar in math. When a snapshot of students in the voucher program who took the state accountability test was compared to a snapshot of the performance of Milwaukee Public School students with similar income disadvantages, the students in the voucher program performed at higher levels in the upper grades in reading and science but at lower levels in math at all grade levels examined and in reading and science in fourth grade.

The researchers also were able to estimate that 7.5 to 14.6 percent of students in the voucher program have a disability. Even the low end of that range is more than four times higher than the disability rate previously reported by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction based merely on the number of voucher students who received special accommodations while testing.

Researchers wrapped up five years of evaluations of the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program on Monday, Feb. 27, with two panel presentations and discussion of the demonstration project's findings in Milwaukee.

The Milwaukee Parental Choice Program was the first school voucher program of its kind when it started in 1990. In 2006, Wisconsin policymakers mandated that the School Choice Demonstration Project lead a five-year evaluation of the Milwaukee program.

UW Professor John Witte worked on the evaluations with Doctor Patrick Wolf, holder of the Twenty-First Century Chair in School Choice at the University of Arkansas and director of the School Choice Demonstration Project, and a team of researchers. The evaluations covered numerous aspects of the program, including academic achievement, parental satisfaction and cost-savings.

"Our final set of reports on the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program represent the last word on the first private school choice program targeted to low-income inner-city students in the U.S. -- a pioneering program that operated for 22 years and paved the way for 25 voucher and tax-credit scholarship programs that have come in its wake," Wolf stated in the summary of final reports. "Our findings include several 'no significant difference' results but also some evidence that participation in MPCP or enrollment in an independent public charter school has produced better student outcomes than those experienced by similar students in Milwaukee Public schools."

Release of the demonstration project's final report and accompanying discussion took place Monday, Feb. 27. Bill Osmulski reports from Milwaukee.

A Nation of Bastards

A Nation of Bastards

A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

**************
The dictionary defines bastard as:
bas·tard
/ˈbæstərd/ noun
1.
a person born of unmarried parents; an illegitimate child.   (SOURCE)

In America today “73 percent of black children are born outside marriage, compared with 53 percent of Latinos and 29 percent of whites.” (SOURCE)

What ever happened to shame?  An even better question to ask, perhaps, is what has happened to self-respect?

Today in America  “…. More than half of births for women under 30 occur outside marriage.” (SOURCE)

It would appear, from the current figures, that our friends of the liberal and progressive persuasion have done a heck of a job in their efforts to destroy the American family.  It has worked beyond their wildest expectations.

In the not too distant past having the misfortune to be born a bastard marked you for life.  Your expectations were not good, to say the least.

Mothers of bastard children were marked for life as well.  They were social outcasts.  The fathers were, well, just SOBs lacking in self-control and having no respect for women, children, or the family.  He was not to be trusted, period.

America has truly become a “nation of bastards.”

You may ask why I am so concerned over this jaw-dropping illegitimacy rate.  The answer is simple.  People’s lives are being destroyed and the future of America is being destroyed right along with them.

THIS is what happens when the American family is destroyed.  Understand, two mommies, or two daddies -- with children -- is NOT a family.  A single parent with children is only half a family, at best. A family MUST be a father, mother, and the children.

Msgr. Charles Pope, of the Archdiocese of Washington, has said: “The breakdown of the traditional family is at the heart of what Daniel Patrick Moynihan once called a “tangle of pathologies.” The image I have often used is that the breakdown of the nuclear family is in fact a kind of nuclear fission. For the family (not the individual) is the basic unit of society. Splitting the family is like splitting the atom, it leads to a destructive chain reaction that, if not somehow controlled and contained, destroys just about everything in sight.

So many of our national ills are show(ing) a strong connection to the breakdown of the family: poverty (the highest correlation to poverty is single motherhood), juvenile crime, teenage suicide, promiscuity, teenage pregnancy, lower SAT and other academic scores, higher dropout rates, authority and trust issues, abortion (85% of abortions are performed on single women), a demonstrated lower capacity to make and keep commitments, delayed maturity, and a whole array of other things in a “tangle of pathologies.”

Clearly God, and nature provide that a child should have the influence of both a father and a mother, both a male and a female influence. It makes sense that proper human formation would require both male and female influence, which is both complimentary and diverse. There are important things that a child can learn from his father than he cannot learn from his mother and vice versa.” (SOURCE)

If you were taken aback when you read the title of this piece, then your shock is a clear indication of just how efficient the political correctness movement has been in America concerning issues such as illegitimacy.

Black American leaders have failed, in my opinion.  It seems to be evident they had rather rail against racism, slavery, and poverty than attack, head-on, the breath taking issue of black bastard childbirths.  Even, it would seem, when 73% of the children of America’s black community are born out of wedlock, it is still much easier to take the path of least resistance and preach “victimhood” to America’s black community than it is to preach “responsibility” for one’s self and one’s circumstances.

As MSGR. Charles Pope says:  Hard though it is, accepting personal responsibility is essential to human dignity.” (SOURCE)

To learn why America is crumbling, it is necessary to inspect the foundation – the family.

When the foundation of any edifice begins to crumble it is only a matter of time before the entire structure collapses.

Romney Supporters Take Down Santorum Signs

This is something a liberal would do. Wait, Romney is a liberal!

HT

Jan Brewer endorses Mitt Romney 2-26-12

Why you old sell-out bag of (fill in the blank.)

Barry Hussein’s War On America; Homefront Edition.

Everywhere we look we see tangible evidence of the depredations of Barry MaoBama Hussein and his Marxist brethren. Actually, it’s difficult at times to ascertain just exactly whose drummer Obama is stepping lightly to. We can see the tangible results of his masterful foreign policy. Mr. Apology is working overtime to placate a bunch of seventh century tribal savages, while his rules of engagement are ensuring that more of our Marines and soldiers are being killed for no reason other than his ineptitude… or his malice. Take your pick.

He sure looks, speaks and behaves like a man with an agenda. It’s blatantly evident to just about anyone, except the committed Kool-Aid crowd, that it’s not America’s agenda. With everyone’s attention pretty much locked onto the circular firing squads representing the race for the Republican nomination, most of Mr Obama’s very real liabilities are being swept under the rug.

The ‘State Of The Union’, in a word, stinks. Obama’s intentional assault on the economy of this country is so target rich I scarcely know where to start. A bit of advice to the Republican presidential hopefuls, though… if you can tear yourselves away from venues specifically set by liberals of the Lame Stream Media. They’ve proven themselves a hundred times over to be no more than mouthpieces for Barack Hussein and his cabal of Marxist loons. You might find it productive to take the attacks to Barack Obama, where they belong.

It boggles the mind to consider that Republicans are stupid enough to allow the left to control and dictate the very substance of our primary candidate debates. This is just what we’ve been talking about all along. It’s what the 2010 elections were all about. We, as conservatives, are totally fed up with the depredations of the DeMarxists and, as the Tea Party Patriot driven Republican sweep of the election showed, fully 70% of America agreed. Far more than that though… it reinforced the revulsion most of us felt for the perpetually erroneous plans and schemes of the establishment Republicans.

So, here we are again. Only this time our very freedoms are on the table. Ronald Reagan didn’t play the Lame Stream game with the DeMarxists or the establishment Repubics. In fact, the establishment did everything in its power to destroy Reagan… and failed. They failed because he refused to pander to the media, heavily left-leaning even at that time. He carried his message directly to the American people… and we responded. The message of conservatism resonates through all of the liberal bleating, lies and obfuscation, each and every time.

Keep in mind that Reagan did not have a ‘new media’ to carry and spread his message. The Lame Stream Media has not only lost vast numbers of its audience, it has lost virtually all credibility and the ratings show it. Why do we allow them and the weak-kneed, linguine-spined establishment Republicans to set our, or any, agenda for that matter? Take your message to the people. We of the new conservative media will carry that message.

Obama’s constant mantra of tax, tax, tax… steal from the ‘rich’ and give to the indolent, the shiftless and the ne’er-do-wells of our society. His constant assault on every single facet of our economy should, in plain language, scare the hell out of every American.

It’s time to hit the trenches again. Take your conservative ideas and principles with you wherever you go… to your neighbors, at the market, at work. It’s American conservatism on the march. Once again, if you don’t know where to go or what to do, contact your local Tea Party Patriots. You’ll find a totally welcoming group of people with but one agenda… America’s.

$2.50 Gas is a Reality We Can Achieve - Newt Responds To Obama's Energy Speech

Speaker Newt Gingrich speaks to the California GOP in San Francisco about the failed energy policy of the Obama administration and the need for affordable energy today.

Is There a Doctor in the House?

The patient is in a fragile state and taking a turn for the worst. Foreclosures continue to rise, unemployment remains unbearable, gas prices are rising and are expected to go to historic levels, our enemies mock us and our allies fear us, the Constitution is being shredded and the ever-increasing deficit will destroy us. Yes, the patient is the United States. Who would you most trust as the “doctor?

America Blood Spilled And Obama Apologizes!

America Blood Spilled And Obama Apologizes!
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

I don’t get it.  How the heck does a nation win a war when it continues to apologize to the enemy?

War fighting just ain’t what it used to be … I mean, back when we actually won wars.  Remember, we haven’t WON a war since the Second World War.

In the first Iraq war we simply declared victory and went home.  That didn’t work, because we had to go back to try to finish the job, and we STILL haven’t won… but the troops are, again, back home.

What the heck is going on, anyway?

It’s called “political correctness” run amuck.

The funny thing is … our military has the testosterone necessary to fight and win wars.  We have the best trained and experienced military on the globe.  But we have spineless leaders.  Unfortunately, we have a civilian Commander-in-Chief of the military … A POLITICIAN.

Ye gads!  Whatever possessed our forefathers to write that into the constitution?  Of COURSE, I know why they did it.  It was to insure there would be no military control of the US government.

But I think there was something else, too.  I think our forefathers were such men of courage and bravery they simply could not fathom this nation EVER electing a leader with the courage of a doe (a female rabbit).

But we have.

As to the riots in Afghanistan … the US military had every right to burn those religious books because they had terrorist communications written in them.  That is EXACTLY the sort of thing you destroy -- especially when you are at war.

I mean, think about it.  Did the US apologize for winning the battle of Midway?  Did we apologize for assassinating the Japanese admiral who led the attack on Pearl Harbor?

Come to think of it, we killed hundreds of French civilians when we attacked Normandy.  Did we apologize for that?

Where is the apology from the current reigning warlord of Afghanistan for his mob’s killing of the two American soldiers?

Geez!  This “pretty please” war fighting, led by Obama, makes me want to vomit!

Answer this:  When are the Islamofacists going to apologize for MURDERING American civilians around the world, huh?   Think about it, dear reader.  The very reason US troops are in Afghanistan in the first place is because Afghanistan hosted the training camps for the terrorists that MURDERED 3,000 Americans in New York City on September 11, 2001.

Look. Islam touts itself as the religion of peace.  That is pure
unadulterated horse hockey! It is a religion not to be respected
but to be FEARED.  It is the only religion I know of that has a
stated goal of conquering the entire world and placing all the
peoples of the earth under Islamic law … or murdering them!

The thought that the US is going to have to suffer five more years
under Obama’s gutless leadership is abhorrent, in the extreme.

I really fear for the American men and women serving in today’s
US military.  I mean …what’s the point in going to war if you
are not going to actually fight a war -- and fight it to win?   Why
go through all the training and put your life on the line if some
lily-livered politician back in Washington is going to sacrifice
your life’s blood on the alter of political expediency?

Come on, folks  Obama is actively seeking ways to gut our military.
He is actively attempting to do away with nearly 80% of
our nuclear arsenal.  This is the very arsenal we
will need to back up our weak military -- if Obama has
his way and hollows them out.

I have advocated, for a very long time, for an amendment to
the constitution that would require that a candidate for the office
of President of the United States be a veteran of
the US military.  I believe it now more than ever before.  We have
the evidence, right before our eyes, of the dangers of a President
who cannot relate to the military and has no clue how to fight
a war - and win.

Yes, I am disgusted with Obama’s behavior in this most recent
example of his penchant for politics over national security.

If Obama owes an apology to anyone, at all, he owes one to
the families of the two young Americans who were killed in the
rioting in Afghanistan.  _He should apologize to them for
apologizing to the Afghans… period!

What a world we live in.  What a country we live in today.
It is barely recognizable as the country in which I grew up.  It is
so bad, I actually fear for the future of my grandchildren.

If America has any chance at all of regaining its stature, heck,
of regaining it’s self respect, then we MUST replace Obama
in November.  For the sake of America’s sons and
daughters in uniform – toss Obama out on his ear in November.

Obama - 'We can't drill our way to energy independence'?

And just why the hell not? We have five hundred years worth of untapped oil in Alaska, not to mention the gushers on federal lands. Plus, this dipwadd still has not turned the rigs in the gulf loose to start drilling again after the BP nonevent.

We are not going to stop burning it, so why won't this dip let us start drilling it?

Jedediah Bila on Politics & Religion w/ a dash of Santorum & Satan

Jedediah Bila and the GBTV Real News panel discuss the GOP race and the current focus on politics and religion.

Deductive Indoctrination

One of the more obvious flaws with higher education is its general tendency to indoctrinate students. (At least, this is obvious to anyone who stands outside of the politically-correct inner circle of watered down academe.) We can trace the source of the fall of higher education to well-intentioned professors who wished to "make a difference" or "change the world" by inflicting on unsuspecting students a mishmash of moral relativism, socialism, groupspeak, psychobabble, feel-good politics, multiculturalism, hedonism, and a disdain for rational thought. (On rationalism, see the article in the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy.) (And yes, some of these "well-intentioned" professors know exactly the effect they have on young, impressionable minds.)

In short, higher education promotes, then inculcates, arguments based on flawed premises.

One case in point is the academic trend to promote only deductive reasoning, excluding inductive reasoning. Deductive reasoning is a process of figuring out what is true, based on assumptions that are presumed to be true. This is the system that Aristotle brought to the world, using a formal argument called the syllogism:
All men are mortal.
Socrates is a man.
Socrates is mortal.
Deductive reasoning is a useful system of logic that has allowed us to make much sense about the physical world around us. Schools now tend to teach only deductive reasoning, since the system works quite well when we are dealing with the sciences. Yet, deductive reasoning has one, major flaw when applied across the board; it is the only system of logic taught to today's students. The conclusions students draw are only as good as the premises on which they are based.

Professors and teachers dogmatically cling to false conclusions, thinking smugly to themselves that they can do so because they have "proof" of their position. But their position would come tumbling down once the premises are shown to be false. These professors then turn around to ridicule anyone who questions their premises.

This produces a circular argument which is guarded closely to the hearts of leftists who ridicule and deride any who dare question their empirical thought. Here's an example. We've heard President Obama's dogmatic position on raising taxes on the rich as a means of reducing the national debt. To Obama, the conclusion is obvious, since his premises rely on the unquestioning assumption that rich people are evil. (Or, at the very least, they are greedy.) Where's the proof for the premise? Well, that lies in the premise that the distribution of wealth is the best means of taking care of the poor - another faulty premise based on bankrupt socialist thought. Those who question the conclusion or the premises are labeled as haters, bigots, or (shudder) rich people.

The biggest flaw with the modern application of deductive reasoning, is the manipulation of data to fit the conclusion. Leftists can argue almost any position as true because they can tweak the premises to fit their conclusions. For example, look at global climate change (formerly "global warming," formerly "global cooling"). The name change means nothing to leftists, yet proves to everyone else that the premises have been altered to fit the "inexorable" conclusion that we must halt global climate change by any political or economic means possible.

Other examples: The people of the US don't like government deficit spending? Just repackage it into a bill with a different name. (After all the leftist conclusion about deficit spending must be correct! Everyone knows the data support the conclusion.) Gays want public acceptance? Force the issue by comparing sexual preference with race. (And if you don't see the connection, you're called a bigot.)

Students who are taught only deductive reasoning cannot understand why anyone would ever disagree with their conclusions because, in their minds, they've "proved" themselves by very scientific principles. These students simply cannot see the circularity of their reasoning. (I have a lot of these students in my classes. I can explain, point to historical texts, argue from 20 different viewpoints, but I will never convince them of any other conclusion than their own, simply because they have "proof" of their position.)

The solution to the failing schools is to teach students an additional logical process - inductive reasoning. This is a different way to argue from the specific to the general. Like deductive reasoning, it argues from premises to conclusions. But unlike deductive reasoning, it draws its conclusions from a widely shared body of knowledge. It tends to include ideas, rather than exclude them. Importantly, it values the concept of wisdom above knowledge.

Certainly, inductive reasoning has problems - not the least of which is over-generalization. Its conclusions are less certain than deductive reasoning. But when we are talking about learning and understanding, uncertainty beats dogma.

After all, we learn the most when we discover how much we don't know. You can't teach students who already know "everything."

OBAMA'S 2013 BUDGET IS AMERICA'S GREEK TRAGEDY

If we recall those cheesy Greek columns that were the backdrop for the DNC convention at Denver’s Invesco Field stadium in August 2008 we may have initially thought those pillars to simply represent the DNC's pitiful hero worship of some mysterious, unknown, small time Chicago politico named Barack Hussein Obama as their party’s candidate for President of the United States. Little did anyone realize that this garish Greek metaphor was a foreshadowing of the grand plan for the progressive/socialist’s “Apollo” to deliberately destroy America’s economic hegemony and replace it to resemble Greece’s financial decay.

President Obama’s Greek recipe for America’s financial demise is undeniably laden with poisonous ingredients (deficit spending, mounting debt, and class warfare tax threats), but at least the manner in which he “stirs the sauce” has one saving grace; it’s predictable. During his tenure as President his 2010, 2011 and 2012 fiscal year budgets had a consistent theme to dismantle America’s economic fabric. Those three budgets were systematic plans to spend in excess of revenues and balloon America’s national debt instead of fostering economic growth.

Now, in the face of a national debt crisis wherein the national debt exceeds GDP and a downgrading of America’s global credit rating, President Obama continues that theme with his 2013 fiscal year budget. In baseball vernacular he’s four-for-four. To support this notion The Wall Street Journal deftly summarized President Obama’s annual budget proposals from 2010-2013 that illustrate his uncanny resolve year in and year out to bankrupt America:

  • Four years of spending of more than 24% of GDP, the four highest spending years since 1946. In the current fiscal year of 2012, despite talk of austerity, Mr. Obama predicts spending will increase by $193 billion to $3.8 trillion, or 24.3% of GDP.
  • Another deficit of $1.327 trillion in 2012, also an increase from 2011, and making four years in a row with deficits above $1.29 trillion.
  • Revenues are at historic lows because of the mediocre recovery. The White House budget office estimates that for the fourth year in a row tax revenues won't reach 16% of GDP. The last time they were below 16% for any year was 1950.
Also according to the WSJ all of the above has added an astonishing $5 trillion in debt  during President Obama’s first presidential term. National debt held by the public will approximate 74.2% in 2012 and keep rising to 77.4% next year (see below chart 1). Economists believe that when debt to GDP reaches 90% the economic damage begins to risk--think Greece.

Chart1: The public portion of the national debt is now approaching 80% of GDP. Economists believe that when public debt-to-GDP ratios reach 90% the economic damage begins to rise.

Holistically the Obama 2013 budget is fundamentally just a cut and paste from his previous three spending spree budgets freshened up with some new and improved class warfare tax hikes and updated with his perennial smoke and mirror accounting and spending gimmicks. A topside review of President Obama’s latest schematic for bankrupting America comes courtesy of the U.S. Senate Republican Policy Committee, with the committee’s overarching comment that “President Obama’s fiscal year 2013 budget increases spending every year, proposes the largest tax increase in history, burdens the country with more debt, and never balances the budget”. The following are the RPC’s highlights:

Spending, Spending and more Spending
  • President Obama’s 2013 budget spends $3.8 trillion, runs a deficit of nearly $1 trillion.
  • The 2013 budget includes total ten year spending of $47 trillion, $11 trillion of it borrowed.
  • Proposed fiscal year 2013 spending is 23.3% of GDP. In FY 2022, well after the White House says the economy should have recovered, spending is 22.8% of GDP, far higher than the country’s 40-year average of 20.6% of GDP.

Deficits, Deficits and more Deficits
  • President Obama’s budget can barely bring the deficit below $1 trillion; the fiscal year 2013 budget deficit is projected to be $901 billion.
  • At the end of President Obama’s 10-year budget window in FY 2022, there is still a deficit of $704 billion.

Debt, Debt and more Debt
  • President Obama’s budget calls for $11.2 trillion in additional gross debt from fiscal year 2012 to fiscal year 2022.
  • Under the President’s budget Gross National Debt will total $26 trillion in fiscal year 2022 under this budget, and annual interest costs on the debt will be $850 billion.

Class Warfare Taxes, Taxes and more Taxes
  • The Obama budget raises taxes by nearly $1.9 trillion from 2013 to 2022, the largest tax increase in U.S. history.
  • President Obama raises taxes on people making more than $200,000 or couples making over $250,000. The two new tax brackets for those making over these amounts would be 36% and 39.6%.
  • The President’s budget reinstates the limitation on itemized deductions for high-income earners; provisions could add 2% or more to a taxpayer’s rate.
  • Limits the value of itemized deductions for high earners to 28%.
  • For upper-income taxpayers, capital gains would be taxed at 20%. The current rate is 15%.
  • The estate tax would be reinstated at 2009 levels.
  • President Obama calls for his favorite class warfare tax known as the "Buffett Rule", but does not include an actual proposal for how to implement it.

Additionally any of the President’s future deficit reductions are basically accounting shell games. They are Budget Control Act cuts already in place and $848 billion in discredited phantom “savings” from the wind-down of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. So, in a word, President Obama’s fiscal year 2013 budget has no actual deficit reduction measures.

When it comes to managing the greatest threat to America’s economic system, and the cause for Greece’s economic downfall, Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security entitlements, President Obama has again kicked the can down the road. According to the Heritage Foundation “by the middle of this century, these three programs and ObamaCare will consume about 18 percent of GDP, soaking up all the historical average of federal tax revenue”.

Critics of the Obama budget are not limited to the RPC or conservative think tanks. Dana Milbank, hardly a card-carrying conservative, reviewed the President’s 2013 fiscal year budget and made the following rebuke,
“The White House’s budget for fiscal 2013 begins with a broken promise, adds some phony policy assumptions, throws in a few rosy forecasts and omits all kinds of painful decisions. Even then, the proposal would add $1 trillion more to the national debt than Obama contemplated a few months ago — and it is a non-starter on Capitol Hill, where even Senate Democrats have no plans to take it up.”

Another Obama budget, another blueprint for bankrupting America and another display of cowardice and inability on the part of President Obama to display any semblance of leadership to present a serious plan for reinstating America’s solvency. Predictable? Yes. As will be the American version of a Greek tragedy unless true leadership is installed in America’s Oval office.
