Obama’s Approval Hits All-Time Low Among Women

Obama is losing the base that propelled him to the White House in 2008. Women and Independents woke up to the nightmare Obama has done in three short years in the Oval Office. There are many Independents and women who are appalled that they were duped by Obama. Honestly, it was white guilt that took Obama into the White House, but that is something to write about one day. It seems the only groups that support Obama are the Black vote and the Muslim vote. Since the 2012 election won't be base on Obama's accomplishments, it will be base on scare tactics, lies, and character assassination of the GOP presidential nominee.

(CNSNews.com) - Barack Obama defeated Sen. John McCain 56 percent to 43 percent among female voters in the 2008 presidential election, according to the network exit poll, and Obama’s job performance as president won the support of 70 percent of women early in his tenure.

But Gallup polling last week showed that only 41 percent of women now say they approve of the way Obama is handling his job as president. That is an all-time low--down from the previous low of 43 percent, which is what Obama’s approval had been among women in each of the previous three weeks.

Obama’s approval has dropped 11 points among women over the past three months. In the last week of May, according to the Gallup poll, the president’s approval among females was at 52 percent.

Obama’s approval among women peaked at 70 percent in the week of Jan. 26-Feb. 1, 2009, his first full week in office.

Green Jobs Permanently Gone Due to Expensive Technology

Green Technology is not ready to go mainstream. There are more green companies going bankrupt or "belly-up." The bottom line is that the technology is too expensive to make. The technology needs more research and refinement. If green energy is expensive to make, the technology would be unattractive to the consumer after a cost mark-up is added to it. Hence, electric cars and CFL light bulbs are not in public demand.

(Mercury News) Solyndra, a Fremont-based solar panel manufacturer that flared then sputtered, abruptly ceased operations on Wednesday and immediately laid off all 1,100 of its workers.

The shutdown marks a high-profile collapse of a company that received more than $1.6 billion in federal and private funding in recent years.

"This was an unexpected outcome and is most unfortunate," Brian Harrison, Solyndra's president and chief executive, said.

The company received $535 million in taxpayer money from the U.S. Department of Energy and $1.1 billion in private venture capital funding.

Solyndra workers who were laid off on Wednesday were dismissed without layoff packages.

Solyndra was founded in 2005 by Chris Gronet, a veteran of Applied Materials who earned his Ph.D. at Stanford University.

President Barack Obama touted Solyndra as a poster child for clean energy after the company received the federal funds.

"Companies like Solyndra are leading the way toward a brighter and more prosperous future," Obama said during a 2010 visit to the company's Fremont headquarters.

Although Solyndra was buttressed by VC and federal money, the company struggled. Among the challenges that doomed Solyndra: Low-cost Chinese manufacturers backed by large subsidies from the government are building massive factories that have rapidly driven down the price of solar panels and shifted more than 50 percent of production to China.

Yet analysts also noted that Solyndra had failed to curb its manufacturing costs. Industry watchers pointed out that Solyndra's solar tubes were still about two or three times as expensive as the standard costs for solar manufacturers in the United States.

Tea Party Counterprotest FAIL... :)

Two Out Of Three Obama's With Fake SSNs, But If You Suspect The Third You Are An Idiot

Don't let anyone try to tell you that Obama's eligibility is not a legitimate concern. Obama defiantly has some questions that he needs to answer. The only thing is, these questions are probably not going to be answered in our lifetime, and certainly not before the 2012 election.

Should the matter be put to bed by conservatives? The answer is no. People should keep trying to get to the truth and keep making public the indiscrepancies that will rise to the surface if Obama is indeed not telling the truth. No matter what anyone says, these questions are creating doubt about Obama in the eyes of voters.

Just don't make the mistake of relying on this alone to defeat Obama. These stories will hurt Obama in the upcoming election, but if you think that he is going to be impeached because of them, you are just fooling yourself.

With all of that in mind, check out Barack Obama's Illegal Alien Family's Social Security Numbers debacle.

It Just Doesn't Stop

Would somebody please tell me this is not happening. I cannot believe the level of corruption that is so endemic throughout this administration. This kind of corruption is one of the reasons why President Obama is so loathed by the right. His progressive-stacked National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has just recently mandated that unions can basically form in a work place without the consent of the workers. Yes, you heard that right. The unions, who supposedly are for the "working man", are going to shaft the working man and woman by negotiating directly with the employer, leaving out the employees.

American's didn't want it, Congress wasn't going to pass it, and he wouldn't dare do it by executive order. So what happens? The NLRB does Obama's and union's bidding. Now a union can form in a work place without the consent of the workers.

A few years ago, as it was looking like Obama was going to be the democrat nominee and more than likely the next president, I got into an e-mail discussion with the editor of a prominent conservative web site. He was actually pulling for Obama to win, not because he liked Obama's politics, quite the opposite in fact. But his feeling was that a term with a progressive in the White House would reawaken the conservative majority in this country the same way that four years of Carter ushered in Reagan. My argument back to him, while agreeing with his points in principle, was the concern I had about the amount of damage Obama and Pelosi could do to this country during that period of time. I was also concerned there was not another Reagan-like individual out there.

As it turns out, we may both have been right. Obama and Pelosi's wild spending ways brought about the largest political party change in history to the House of Representatives as Americans grew tired of the arrogance and free spending attitude emanating from Washington DC. Obama is not likely to see a second term unless something dramatic happens in the next 14 months. For Obama to see a second term I think one of two things have to happen. Either unemployment is going to have to improve back to levels during the Bush administration (less than 4% unemployment), or Obama is going to have to come to grips with the fact that America is a right of center nation and we DON'T WANT TO BE FRANCE. Given his track record, I think improving unemployment has a better chance happening than Obama understanding the American people (improving unemployment would be the slim in the slim to zero scenario). So, American has woken up and will more than likely send Barack Obama packing back to Chicago.

But I also fear that I was right. The damage he has done to this nation is catastrophic in my opinion. It is going to take years, if not decades for us to recover from his policies. Our national debt stands at over $14 trillion and counting in the billions each day. Yes, Bush was a spender, but Obama has an appetite like a Sumo-wrestler at a sushi bar. I really don't think many people have truly come to grips with the debt that we are facing. One analogy that I have heard compares the US debt to a middle class individual ($50K/year) having a $200,000 in credit debt. At the current rate of spending, it is predicted that our debt will be 100% of GDP by 2025. That is the ratio of debt to GDP currently being experienced by Greece and Portugal. They have defaulted and seeing unrest not seen since the 1960's.

We can argue back and forth whether the spending saved the US from a depression, but one thing that is not arguable is the fact the spending was beyond wasteful. A very large chunk of this money was used as political payoffs to favored districts and unions. http://www.businessinsider.com/mccain-100-wasteful-stimulus-projects-2010-8# Where are the "shovel ready jobs"? They are nowhere to be seen. Heck, I can think of a bridge that is serious need of being replaced and it would have taken about 0.1% of the stimulus budget. Building a bridge over the Columbia River would certainly qualify as a shovel ready project, would probably employ several thousand (directly and indirectly), and would improve a transportation route. Obama has been compared to FDR, Lincoln, and JFK. Frankly, I certainly don’t see the comparison with the latter two, but I do see it with FDR. Well, if he were going to act like FDR, at least he could do something with the tax dollars besides study the habits of ants or whether apes understand inequality. While I don't agree with the level of spending and the culture of dependency brought about by FDR's "New Deal", at least we have tangible reminders. That money built the Tennessee Valley Authority, the BPA, and Hoover Dam, just to name a few. Are we going to remember Obama for the ant studies?

How long will it take for us to recover from his autocratic actions, taken through various agencies, once Obama has been asked by the voters to take up residence elsewhere?

The NLRB is an agency run-amok. It has used its power to stomp on one of the last remaining exporters of American excellence. Boeing is attempting to expand some its manufacturing capacity in South Carolina (which is a “right to work” state) to build its most modern airliner. But the NLRB has filed suit, trying to prevent Boeing from expanding further in South Carolina. The NLRB has accused Boeing that they are expanding in SC as retaliation for the crippling labor strikes in Washington state in recent years. Well duh! If I were the owner of a business, I would certainly move part of my operations to a location where strikes were something I did not have to deal with. That just makes good business sense to me. What makes this power play by the NLRB so stupid is that Boeing is doing nothing illegal, even by NLRB guidelines. Seems kind of odd that the NLRB would go after Boeing regarding South Carolina, but not in California (not a right to work state), where Boeing has significant manufacturing interests (second only to Washington state, home base of Boeing). I wonder if Boeing had decided to expand in Ohio, or Oregon, would this suit still exist. And as pointed out in the opening of this column, they have basically stomped on workers’ rights. Where are the Wisconsin teachers now who were so concerned about worker rights last spring?

There is not enough space to lay out all the lies and deceit coming from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). But I’ll give you just a taste. The EPA is attempting to regulate CO2, which is a naturally occurring gas vital to the survival of the planet. Trees and bushes and grasses all need CO2 to live. And we need it too. A waste by-product created by trees and other organic matter just so happens to be what we humans (and all other life forms) need to survive. Anyway, the EPA is attempting to regulate this gas through the Clean Air Act, which of course is not really legal since the CAA does not cover a naturally occurring substance. But that has not stopped Lisa Jackson and her cohorts from running rough-shod over the rules. The EPA wants to make industry to obtain permits for CO2 emissions and those permits will dictate what level this life-sustaining gas can be emitted. The EPA is using global warming as the vehicle in which to implement the rules governing CO2 emissions. Or course, this is a crock. Global warming is pretty much a dead issue as we have entered into the 12th year of cooling. If the EPA is allowed to do this (and they have been), the cost of building new energy plants and expanding existing ones will sky-rocket. Will the energy companies absorb this cost or will they pass it along to the consumer? As an avowed capitalist, I know what I would do. Plus, I would charge double for electricity in Washington DC.

It is quite possible that my protagonist in this debate is going to be proven correct. The nation is certainly shifting to the right. Several polls indicate this has not only taken hold, but has also gained some traction. As recently as last month, a generic Republican candidate beats Obama by a hefty margin. This bodes well. But there is also some danger. There are many candidates out there right now; Perry, Romney, Cain, Bachmann, Gingrich, McCotter, and maybe Palin. The vetting is ongoing. Who is the best choice? Right now, there is no clear front-runner. Bachmann won the Iowa straw poll, but Perry and Romney didn’t participate. Perry surged when he announced, but the liberal press has barely gotten their talons into him yet, so we still don’t know if his grandfather on his mother’s brother’s adopted sister’s best friend’s husband’s second cousin side ran a stop light back in 1913. But I am sure if Elmer did it (or was it Ethel?), the leftist press will be sure to tell us about it in breathless detail.

Ron Paul Needs A Lesson in the History of Islam

By Thom Paine – the Independent Realist

Ron Paul seems to think that 9/11 was caused by America. He says the motivation for the attacks came from America being in the Middle East, specifically in those countries like Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Pakistan and others which support terrorists and terrorism. I say the motivation for the attacks came from the koran, and from nowhere else. To support this, I offer this little history lesson on just what the koran has caused over the centuries. The first article in this little history lesson is called “The Muslim PR Game Called ‘The Crusades’.”

The muslim PR game called "The Crusades"
(Note: In order to give credit where credit is due, this article was written by Armin Vamberian and Robert Sibley. It is reprinted here by permission of Mr. Vamberian.)

The Muslim Game:

Muslims love talking about the Crusades, and Christians love apologizing for them. To hear both parties tell the story, one would believe that Muslims were just peacefully minding their own business in lands that were legitimately Muslim, when Christian armies decided to wage holy war and "kill millions."

The Truth:

Every part of this myth is a lie. By the rules that Muslims claim for themselves, the Crusades were perfectly justified, and the excesses (though beneath Christian standards) pale in comparison with the historical treatment of conquered populations at the hands of Muslims.
The crusades are quite possibly the most misunderstood event n European history.
The Crusades were in every way a defensive war. They were a direct response to Muslim aggression -- an attempt to turn back or defend against Muslim conquests of Christian lands.

The West may now dominate the Islamic world, but that has only been the case since the late 18th century, when a young general, Napoleon Bonaparte, conquered Egypt and temporarily imposed French rule. This initial European penetration into one of the heartlands of Islam was "a terrible shock" to Muslims, says historian Bernard Lewis. Until then, they had thought of themselves as the victors in the Crusades.

That assumption is understandable. Muslim rulers held the preponderance of power as far as Europe was concerned until the 17th century and had done so, more or less, since the Prophet Muhammad issued Islam's initial declaration of war against other religious faiths in the seventh century. The Prophet wrote the Christian Byzantine emperor and the Sassanid emperor of Persia to suggest they surrender to his rule because, well, their day was done.

"I have now brought God's final message," the Prophet declared. "Your time has passed. Your beliefs are superseded. Accept my mission and my faith or resign or submit ... you are finished."

This claim propelled the armies of Islam to take on the rest of the world.

Muslim armies charged out of the Arabian Peninsula to conquer Syria, Lebanon, Palestine and Egypt -- all of which, as part of the late Roman Empire, were officially Christian. By the eighth century, Christian North Africa was under Muslim control.

Islam soon swept into Europe, grabbing Spain, Portugal and southern Italy. In the 11th century, the Seljuk Turks conquered much of Asia Minor, or Turkey.

Here are some quick facts about the Crusades:

Mental Illness Linked to Global Warming...PALM TO FOREHEAD!!!

.....PALM TO FOREHEAD.... This is the most idiotic rationalizing I have read. If this is the mentality for reasoning, one can say that to end Liberal stupidity it is okay to kill a Liberal. Wait! Hmm....... LOL.

(SMH) RATES of mental illnesses including depression and post-traumatic stress will increase as a result of climate change, a report to be released today says.

The paper, prepared for the Climate Institute, says loss of social cohesion in the wake of severe weather events related to climate change could be linked to increased rates of anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress and substance abuse.

As many as one in five people reported ''emotional injury, stress and despair'' in the wake of these events.

The report, A Climate of Suffering: The Real Cost of Living with Inaction on Climate Change, called the past 15 years a ''preview of life under unrestrained global warming''.

''While cyclones, drought, bushfires and floods are all a normal part of Australian life, there is no doubt our climate is changing,'' the report says.

''For instance, the intensity and frequency of bushfires is greater. This is a 'new normal', for which the past provides little guidance …

''Moreover, recent conditions are entirely consistent with the best scientific predictions: as the world warms so the weather becomes wilder, with big consequences for people's health and well-being.''

The paper suggests a possible link between Australia's recent decade-long drought and climate change. It points to a breakdown of social cohesion caused by loss of work and associated stability, adding that the suicide rate in rural communities rose by 8 per cent.

The report also looks at mental health in the aftermath of major weather events possibly linked to climate change.

It shows that one in 10 primary school children reported symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder in the wake of cyclone Larry in 2006. More than one in 10 reported symptoms more than three months after the cyclone.

''There's really clear evidence around severe weather events,'' the executive director of the Brain and Mind Research Institute, Professor Ian Hickie, said.

''We're now more sophisticated in understanding the mental health effects and these effects are one of the major factors.

''What we have seriously underestimated is the effects on social cohesion. That is very hard to rebuild and they are critical to the mental health of an individual.''

Professor Hickie, who is launching the report today, said climate change and particularly severe weather events were likely to be a major factor influencing mental health in the future.

''When we talk about the next 50 years and what are going to be the big drivers at the community level of mental health costs, one we need to factor in are severe weather events, catastrophic weather events,'' he said.

Muslim Americans Overwhelmingly Support Obama

The newest group to support Obama are Muslims living in America. I am not surprised.

(Reuters) - A majority of U.S. Muslims are content with the nation's direction in contrast to many Americans and few Muslims believe there is support for Islamic extremism here, a survey released on Tuesday found.

With the 10th anniversary of the al Qaeda attacks on New York and the Pentagon approaching, the Pew Research Center found that most Muslims felt ordinary Americans were friendly or neutral toward them.

In contrast to the majority of the general public dissatisfied with the nation's direction, 56 percent of the estimated 2.75 million American Muslims said they are satisfied, the survey showed. Seven out of 10 view President Barack Obama's tenure favourably.

"On a variety of measures, Muslims in America are very content with their own lives and with the communities where they live," Pew researcher Greg Smith said in an interview.

Four out of five Muslim Americans surveyed were satisfied with the way things are going in their lives and rated their communities very positively as places to live.

"We've seen Muslims move in a different direction than the rest of the country (with more) believing America is going in the right direction," Smith said.

Only 6 percent of Muslims in the survey of slightly more than 1,000 surveyed by telephone between April and July said they there is a great deal of support for Islamic extremism in Muslim-American communities. Another 15 percent said there is a fair amount of support among U.S. Muslims of extremism.

Among the general public, four in 10 believe extremism is supported in the Muslim American community, researchers said.

The general level of satisfaction among American Muslims was reflected in the 76 percent who approved of Obama's performance as president -- nine out of 10 said they voted for the Democrat in 2008. Muslim support for Obama contrasts with unfavourable views of his Republican predecessor, George Bush.

There are an estimated 1.8 million Muslim adults in the United States, including U.S.-born converts, a 300,000 increase since 2007. Two-thirds were born in other countries.

Rick Perry To Be GOP Presidential Nominee

Rick Perry To Be GOP Presidential Nominee

A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

OK.  So my tongue WAS firmly fastened in my cheek when I wrote the title to this piece.  But, I have to tell you that signs are pointing to Perry becoming the GOP nominee and eventually President of the US.

Admittedly, predicting (at this point) that Perry will be “President Perry” is a bit of a stretch, but I am beginning to feel the inevitability of it.

Consider this:  When the media raises the question of a republican candidates IQ… that means they are genuinely frightened that that candidate poses a serious threat to THEIR candidate.   THEIR candidate, of course is the current occupant of the Oval Office, Barack Hussein Obama.

For evidence of this, one need look no farther than President George Bush.  According to the political left, and the leftist media, George Bush was DUMB.  How the heck did a dumb man graduate from two Ivy League universities and manage to fly jet fighter planes   … AND BECOME PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES??

And then there was Ronald Reagan.  My, oh, my, how the democrats challenged the man’s intellect.  They ran a pitiless campaign throughout his presidency questioning Reagan’s ability to reason.  It actually gained the democrats nothing as the American people caught on quickly to whom, exactly, the mental midgets were.

It is no secret the democrats favor elitist egghead presidents who are disasters as chief executives of the nation.  As evidence we offer Jimmy Carter and Barack Hussein Obama.  When the democrats manage to elect a non-elitist, good ole boy, for president, the country gets along fairly well – for a country run by democrats, that is.

The United States does not need an elitist, educated beyond his ability, to try to run the country.  America needs a man who can actually lead.  A man who can actually make decisions without confusing himself with advise from a host of councilors, each with his own agenda.

I am a firm believer in the “bumblebee theory.”  Aeronautically, the bumblebee cannot fly.  The body to wing ratio is just too great.  The tiny little wings simply cannot create enough lift for that large bulky body to ever get off the ground let alone sustain it in flight.  But, you see, the bumblebee is so dumb he doesn’t know it – so he just goes on and flies anyway.

So, maybe we need a “dumb President.”   Maybe he’ll be so dumb that he doesn’t know the problems with the US can’t be fixed and just goes ahead and fixes them, anyway.  I’ll vote for that kind of dumbness  -- and I expect a whole slew of Americans will, as well.

Honestly, I am tired of the flowing oratory of the Obama speechwriters.  Well, to be honest, its not so much the oratory I am tired of – it is the FLOW.  The word “flow” does not do justice to the absolute FLOOD of words coming from Obama.  In reality, his oratory falls flat.  Why?  Because they are just words – words from the brain not the heart.

For an orator to be effective, he must speak with conviction from the heart about his subject.  And he must speak to his audience as if he were speaking to a single person, a confidant, and a friend.

Obama’s speeches are cold and calculated and the listener knows it.  They don’t know who he is talking to, but they know it is not they.

I have yet to hear Rick Perry deliver a speech.  But I can imagine a southwestern accent where the “g” and the “t” are dropped.  (The Texas accent is not too different from the South Carolina accent.)  Having never heard him, I’d bet that he knows how to speak directly to every member of his audience and each audience member will leave believing that Gov. Perry was speaking directly to him or her.  He will have connected with them and he and his former audience will share an intimacy of knowledge they did not know prior to the address.   That is effective oratory.

If Mr. Perry can, indeed, do that, the White House will be his.

It seems to me, that that ole cotton-picking country boy from Texas is an unexpected problem for the Obama campaign.  Now they must switch gears from campaigning against a republican, whom southerners feel is not too different from Obama, to campaigning against a populist candidate, a man of the people, a country boy who is plain spoken like so many of the American people.  It will be a challenge.

The Obama campaign and the Mainstream Media are, once again, underestimating the GOP candidate they have already judged as dumb.  I think they have made a massive mistake that may cost them the White House – and I couldn’t be happier about that.

From The Left to the Right

by Mark A. Cohen - Over 150 of his blog posts can be read at fromthelefttotheright[dot]blogspot[dot]com

Aug. 28-29, 2011

In 1966, The Happenings recorded a most memorable version of the song, "See You in September," written by Sid Wayne and Sherman Edwards in the late 1950’s. As you read the words here: See You in September, or here: See You in September, you can envision President Obama, assuring America on 8/17/11 that he has a shiny, new employment plan... but you’ll need to wait in order to see what’s in it. He promised to reveal the brand new strategy around Labor Day, in September, or so. Why not help this country in August? Why wait? He’s only been president for two and a half years…

He doesn’t lead, but follows Nancy Pelosi’s convoluted logic. She told us the Congress needed to pass the oversized Obamacare bill because that was the best way to know what was in it. So, don’t you wonder how Mr. Obama will bring Dems and Repubs together – by changing his tune next month?

Is the mainstream media speculating it will be a change in direction for the Obama Administration? A bold compromise is coming, perhaps? Will the New York Times columnist and resident genius Thomas Friedman pine for the Democrats of the past, you know, the meek ones, who were so much more flexible than the liberals of today? No, and no. (There’ll be more on Thomas Friedman in upcoming posts.) The MSM is silent in unison on President Obama’s softening because they believe that even more spending and Robin Hood robbin’ the ‘hood is the solution. Whenever he deems it time, President Obama will tell us about another massive stimulus to rebuild roads and bridges, because it’s obvious to the left that this is what’s required for recovery – even though this method failed last time. But why compromise? The millionaires and billionaires will have to be punished because they took risks and profited. More green, energy jobs are required, too, of course (but we won’t be allowed to drill for our abundant supplies of oil). We’ll need to spend even more of our children’s money – which we don’t have. America will fall further into debt, and disrepute. What will the world think of America then? Well, the MSM doesn’t care what the world thinks this time ‘round. The left will not touch entitlements, which are sorely in need of reform. The party of heck, no just won’t change course. Never, not ever.

To paraphrase the song: We’ll see the president in September, when the summer’s through. Summer vacation’s taking the president away. Hope he has a good time at Martha’s Vineyard, but remember, there’s danger for delaying too long. As he plays in a resort, and while the economy withers and his people suffer, we’ll be counting the days, hours, and minutes until he reveals a strategy to fix the economy. We’ll see him in September… maybe. Good luck until then.

Michelle Obama Blame Whites for Black's Failure at NAACP Speech in Kansas City, Missouri today

The bitter half doing what she does best -- hate Americans!

Shadyplease: Why is it Michelle Obama can't point out the blame to the Democratic Party? EVERY ghetto in USA is presented by Democrats, her own party; party lead by her husband, Barack Hussein Obama. She talks about racism, yet refused to condemn racism of blacks against whites. Michelle Obama also accuse TEA Partiers of using "racial epithets" against black members of Congress. This woman called "First Lady" of USA is a LIAR like her husband. Up to now NO ONE came forward to produce a video at TEA PARTY rally in Washington DC for proof! There were so many videos and recorders out there during TEA party rally, how come none of these black congressmen can produce any video to prove their accusation? Because there was NONE of TEA Partiers made any racial remarks! Real racist is the DEMOCRATIC PARTY, they're the one who keep black people down thru entitlements; give them welfare, make them dependent on government cheese. Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Rangel and other black leaders made themselves MILLIONAIRES at the expense of blacks in their own community; they've lineup their pocket while starving their own neighborhood, making them captives! There are many blacks at TEA PARTY MOVEMENT and some of them are main speakers during rallies all over USA. If you've escaped PLANTATION MENTALITY of Democrats and you're black, you're called UNCLE TOM even by some speakers of NAACP today. Enough is enough! Blaming the white man for failures of blacks; blame your black leaders for keeping you inside plantation mentality; NEW enforcers of Democrats plantation mentality; in the old days they have KKK (Klu Klux Klan), in modern day, they have The Congressional Black Caucus and people like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and others.

Who Will Decide The Next President – Part Three

By Thom Paine – the Independent Realist

As I have mentioned throughout this series, far too many people will simply vote they way their favorite talking head on their favorite news program tell them to. Little to no research will be done, and most will not even know where the various candidates stand on the issues. And as I have said, this is a travesty. But the question that begs to be asked in relation to this is “why do people vote the way the media tells them to vote?” While there are multiple answers to this, such as people are lazy, people don’t want to be bothered with the whole election nonsense, people don’t understand the issues or the process and trust the media to inform them, as well as many others. There is one answer, however, that does bear some thought, and may very well change the way you think about the media. That answer is “Coercive Persuasion.”

Coercive Persuasion (also known as Thought Control, Thought Reform, or Thought Manipulation) is something we all practice on a daily basis. Every parent, when raising a child, engages in this practice. “Don’t talk to strangers, they could be bad people and hurt you” continually drummed into a child’s head will result in that child viewing strangers with a certain degree of mistrust. This would be a good form of thought manipulation as it instills in the child a way to remain safe. Of course on the other side of the coin, there are bad people in the world who will engage in their own form of though control and counter the parents teaching with, “Not all strangers are bad, some of them are good – would you like to have a piece of candy or see a puppy I have?” These bad strangers will generally strive to build up a friendship with the child until they can gain the child’s trust and once that goal has been achieved; they will proceed with their original plan and harm the child.

Law enforcement and the military utilize coercive persuasion techniques in their training of new recruits, in order to change their thinking patterns to be more in line with their new found jobs of protecting and serving the population of America. There are not many people who will voluntarily place themselves in harm’s way, even to the point of being willing to take a bullet, for a complete stranger. And yet, through their training, this is just what police and soldiers do on a daily basis. Coercive persuasion is also used throughout their careers in order to reinforce the officer’s or soldier’s responsibility to serve and remain loyal even in the face of overwhelming odds.

Corporations and companies also engage in coercive persuasion. “Buy Now! Before they’re all gone!” “Go ahead and get it now!” “Buy this for better health, a sexier body, improved performance, and be the envy of your neighbors!” “Buy your lottery ticket to today for a chance to WIN 10 MILLION DOLLARS!” And my all time favorites: “I’m a raccoon in your attic / a torrential rain storm / a deer on your headlights / etc., buy now and be protected from mayhem like me!” These are all coercive persuasion marketing techniques.

Coercive persuasion is not brain washing. I should point that out here. What you see in Hollywood, “The Manchurian Candidate,” etc., is nothing more than myth. Although it can be done, most people cannot be forced to do something they normally would not do. At least not unless the person had those proclivities to begin with. Coercive Persuasion techniques strive to simply change a person’s perceptionabout things, and thus change the way they think. Fortunately, most people are immune from them, but there are some who simply cannot resist them (hence the popularity and success of the home shopping network), and this is the audience for whom these ads are created. I am very confident that once you realize this is being done, you will be able to point out a plethora of examples that I have not mentioned here.
Coercive persuasion seeks to alter or change the thought processes of an individual or group of individuals, who in turn will not only accept that change, but will go on to promote it as well. This not the same as a convincing debate or discussion which may or may not sway a person’s opinions. Coercive persuasion seeks to change a person’s thinking, their thought patterns to the point where they will believe something they may not otherwise believe. (Note I said believeand not do. Although an extensive conversation could be based on that statement alone, now is not the time, and here is not place.)
